A Cup of Unity: Sisterhood Afternoon Tea for Women in Ministry

A Cup of Unity is more than just a tea gathering. It's an opportunity for you to connect with other women in ministry on a deeper level and break down the walls that seek to divide us, share our stories, and build a community of support and encouragement that empowers us to stand shoulder-to-shoulder and persevere in the face of challenges, as we together build God’s Kingdom.

By coming together around the cup, we can create a space to unite at the cross and find renewed strength, resilience, and inspiration to continue building our ministries from a place of rest.

We are a Part of a Royal Sisterhood!

Many of us are balancing multiple roles trying to manage feelings of being overwhelmed and burnout. We are exhausted by the current cultural climate while struggling to have our voices heard trying to shatter the stained glass ceilings of the church.

We Need a Safe Place to Rest and Build

Many of us are tired and weary. For me, tea and the teacup symbolize rest, unity, resilience, wellness, and harmony. A Cup of Unity: Sisterhood Afternoon Tea a safe and nurturing place for women in ministry to come away and rest.

We Need to Experience Authentic Unity

In a world that often compares and magnifies our differences this is an opportunity for us to stand out displaying unity bound by the love of Jesus, the common thread that weaves our hearts and mission together.

We Wear to White Create a Presence of Peace

Wearing white is an outward reminder of an inward reality of pure hearts transformed by Christ who calls us to live a life of peace. We choose to put our denominations, titles, ministry experiences, sizes of our ministries, or cultural differences aside and serve one another in compassion and harmony.

We are a Part of a Remarkable Sisterhood

We are royal sisters of the King of Kings. We are in the same family with the same mission to proclaim the gospel and make disciples. You'll have the opportunity to connect with other sisters who are walking a similar path, share your struggles and victories, and be encouraged by the stories as we steep, sip, and savor from a cup of unity

Celebrate our Royal Sisterhood with A Cup of Unity - A Sisterhood Afternoon Tea for Women in Ministry where love is poured out and unity is served with love from a place of rest with grace, ease, and grit.

Meet our Hostess - First Lady Cynthia White, The First Lady of Tea

First Lady Cynthia White has been married to Pastor James White for 36 years. They have been in ministry for their entire married life. Before starting COKCC(Christ Our King Community Church), they served in the ministry of Cru (formally named Campus Crusade for Christ) as missionaries to college students at Howard University in Washington, DC, and formally the Communication Center, based in Cary, NC.

She is also a speaker, author, Bible teacher, entrepreneur, coach, mentor, and mental health coach. She is the founder and CEO of Remarkable Living Institute®, a discipleship, and leadership development-focused ministry for Christian women in leadership.

As a Rest and Build Mentor Coach, she is the author of a One-Year Planner: Rest and Build Your Best Remarkable Year and a 31-Day Devotional entitled, Rest and Builds: A 31-Day Journey to Restore Your Soul and Design a Life That Matters as well as a Bible study creator and teacher.

First Lady Cynthia’s mission is to help Christian women in leadership intentionally live life by design and not by default, with grace and ease from a place of rest. By resting intentionally, living fully, and leading impactfully, they will show up and make remarkable things happen for the Kingdom of God.

She has spoken and trained at numerous companies, non-profit organizations, and universities. Also, she has been an etiquette contributor for a local syndicated radio station. She taught Personal Branding to job-seekers at Wake Technical Community College as a part-time adjunct instructor in Human Resource Development.

First Lady Cynthia studied Criminal Justice at Old Dominion University and is a member of Delta Sigma Theta Sorority, Inc. Currently, she volunteers with NAMI (National Alliance on Mental Illness). She and Pastor White are the parents of three adult children. In addition to serving alongside her husband, she directs the women’s ministry and the programming team at COKCC. And she loves tea, teacups, fresh flowers, crafting, hospitality, cooking, decorating, and all things animal print.

She’s launched several powerful initiatives under Velma Greenlee Ministries that included The Prayer Closet, God’s Leading Ladies, workshops teaching women in leadership how to walk in their assignment, and Curve Balls, a dynamic message of empowerment for women as they most assuredly face encounters that throw them off balance. The great news is that Rev. Greenlee-Shelley helps them find and understand the importance of knocking these curve balls out of their lives with renewed hope and restoration.

She was educated in the Connecticut school system and graduated from the Stone School of Business. Velma is currently pursuing her Master of Divinity at Campbell Divinity School.

Velma once read a quote that said, "Don't leave this earth having everyone else use you but God." This quote rang loudly within her spirit and causes her to move forward in her God-given assignments.

She and her Rev. Lester Shelley, the man she waited for God to bless her with live in Raleigh, NC.
